When I started making graphics, patterns, and photoshop brushes back in the early 2000s I didn't really have my own reliable place to just upload and share. After I set up Dirt2 to provide free content someone recommended I try making a shop to automatically handle customers and allow them the ability to use my fonts in commercial merchandise.

Who I Am
My name is Andy and I'm from California and have been here my entire life so far. Born in the late 80s and moved around a lot so the computer became a comfortable and stable place for me to concentrate and mess around with.

I've been doing graphic design my entire life since my dad was a creative person who was always making marketing material. There was always a computer around with games or painting software on it; I'm pretty sure MacPaint, Dabbler 2, and Photoshop were the original.

Where I Learned
I taught myself everything just by playing around with different programs. When I was curious how to do something I would just search the internet or watch a video if I couldn't figure it out. Many times I gave up and would try again only after weeks, months, or years had passed.

As I grew up I became nervous around people so I continued to keep to myself. My writing started getting sloppy and in High School I couldn't read my notes to prepare for tests and it felt overwhelming. I loved playing with free fonts and I started toying with the idea of creating and bettering my own writing through fonts.

Creating Typography
I practiced replicating writing, famous font designs, and letters to see what sort of mindset someone would have to be in. After practicing a lot, inspiration would hit me and so I would do my best to create what I could on my own. A lot of times I wouldn't publish or finish a font file either from it getting too technical or me feeling like it's just not worth finishing.

Despite not being a professional calligraphy artist I kept designing fonts for years because it was something I enjoyed.

10+ Years
Lately, I've gotten more into cooking, landscaping, children's education, and occasionally continue do marketing and graphics for clients and friends.

I keep the site going because I still get people asking about my fonts which amazes me every time and I appreciate everyone for supporting me and giving me the confidence to make me feel like I'm worth something.
